Susan Grigsby, Janie Kossak, Kathleen Disney, Cawood Cornelius, Betsy Razza, Sherry Grove, Joan Abraham, and Nan Brown attended Library Day at the Capitol in 2008 and met with legislators to urge them to fully restore funding for library media centers. Cawood Cornelius, Rosalind Dennis, Betsy Razza, and Nan Brown lobbied at the State Capitol in 2008 to including library media specialists in the Return to Work/Retirement Bill (SB327). This bill allows a retired teacher, principal, superintendent, media specialist or counselor to return to full-time employment and continue to collect his or her full retirement benefit. The original language of this bill excluded media specialists. Through lobbying efforts, however, GLMA was able to get media specialists included in this legislation. Betsy Razza, Jean Auenson, Barbara Hallstrom, Kathleen Disney, Susan Grigsby, Nan Brown, Sherry Grove, Joan Abraham, and Cawood Cornelius met with legislators at the Capitol in February 2008 to plead their case for expenditure controls to ensure that library funds appropriated by the legislature reached their libraries.
